It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, friction, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is a common occurrence in the following 24-hours after the treatment, and a high volume of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will are released from the muscle belly during the treatment. Also, due to the slower pace and complexity of the techniques performed by the therapist during the massage, a minimum of 90-minutes is needed achieve the desired results.
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function. This treatment is primarily for post-event recovery.
Geriatric massage is a form of Swedish massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.
Migraine Cold Stone Therapy
An estimated 50-million (1 in 6) Americans suffer from migraine headaches. A migraine is a neurological disease characterized by recurrent moderate to severe headaches often in association with nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, sound, or smell. Typically, a migraine affects one half of the head and last on average 24-72 hours. Cold Stone Therapy uses a combination of aromatherapy, facial and cranial massage, and cryotherapy with marble stones lowered to 36-degrees Fahrenheit. The session will begin with the client selecting the essential oil blend, with the most pleasing smell, which will be applied to the face and neck to lift the mind, promote balance and harmony within the body, and product physiological changes that diminish migraine pain. After the essential oil is applied, a 20-minute facial massage is given to stimulate the lymphatic vessels which removes excess blood and toxins from the facial area, as well as, break up mucus in the sinus cavities reducing congestion and pressure. Following the facial massage, cold stones are applied to the pressure points of the forehead and sinus areas to constrict blood flow to those areas; thus, reducing the swelling and pressure. The final 15-minutes of the session will be a recovery period in which the client will be left alone while the affects of the treatment take full effect.
